No power source for storing K-9 solved :)

I made a post recently about the area where I store my K-9 not having any electricity - thus not being able to keep a battery tender on my bike. Well after good advice on here and doing some research I have to decided to go solar rather than running a 100 extension cord to the area of storage. I called the company to the link below and I spoke with technical support in depth about the 2% battery drain on this bike because of the EHC and also the fact that the bike needs to remain on a tender whenever it's not being ridden. He suggested this product and mentioned many people have gone this route using solar as a charging alternative. I think this should solve my issue. The cost of the solar panel kit about $100.

I dont buy into the charger thing( although I have one)
assumming a good battery, and all being well with the electrical system, you shoud'nt need one unless the bike is sitting idle for extended periods of time. Do these company people making these sugestions come home and put their cars and trucks on a charger? :loony:

I know this topic is starting to get beat to death so I guess I'll ask this final question. I've decided to opt for a solar power source to maintain my battery because at this time I don't want to run electric. I can get either a solar 5 watt (350mAmps/hr) trickle charger for $67 or a 15 watt (1Amp/hour) solar battery charger for $99. Both are made by the same company and have received great reviews. The battery charger comes with a controller to automatically prevent the battery from overcharging. The reason I was looking at the battery charger over the trickle charger is because Woodbutcher mentioned the EHC drains the battery at 2% per day so I was thinking a trickle charger might not supply enough power due to the EHC drain. The bike will not be ridden 5-6 months out of the year because the riding season is so limited in NY. Which item do you think would be the better choice? Thank you.

I will agree if your riding every other day. During damp shitty months I keep it on a tender however during summer when I'm riding more no tender....

I agree with Ringo, I have a WP and HD battery -no idea how old the battery is, over a year anyway. I do keep bike in a tender if I’m away for longer period, but like after a week or two when I come home and remember to plug the tender, it shows like 75%. No problem starting… Figure that.
