No power at coil or ignition module.

Just an update for you guys:

The problem with the bike turned out to be the mechanic. Lmao!

I dropped it off this morning to a trusted shop this morning. I hot wired it and it ran like a champ the whole way there. I hated having to get off it.

I will let you know the diagnosis. The goal is to get it running now and do a full harness in November

Well, it's been over a week since I rode it to the shop. Got the phone call this morning and they can't figure out the problem either.

The mechanic was confident he would fix it easily where I showed up on it running with it hot wired. I thought the same way, everything works, just no power to the coil. The bike has so much electric spaghetti that's been chopped up like crazy, it's ridiculous.

I am having a new harness put in. The mechanic wants to go with this.

What do you guys think?

Wow. I have Thunderheart on my 2000 no problems with it. But I have a new Thunderheart EHC on the shelf waiting for the day it is needed. Does your chopper have Thunderheart currently?

Yes it does, but its not the micro harness, he seems to think it's the best way to go. Thank you for your reply!

I want him to be comfortable with what he is working with and he installs this particular harness quite often. So, unless it's a big piece of garbage I would like to let him have at it.

I'm coming in late here and I don't have the wire diagram for AIH but the Big Dog ehc needs a signal from the run button before the Ignition and coil will get power. Maybe they are similar. You mentioned an issue with your stop / run button. That could possibly be your issue. I would at least troubleshoot that switch and wiring before rewiring the whole bike. I am suspect of a mechanic that solves an electrical issue by replacing the whole system.
You seem to have the aptitude to shoot this yourself. If you try, try again and fail you can always go back and pay this mechanic to replace the wiring harness. You could also just install a switch for your hot wire. If the hot wire works, is it worth $400 + labor to have the bike rewired??

:agree: Especially since he told you that he couldn’t isolate where the problem was originating. Have you thoroughly checked the stop/run button & circuit. If you can jump the switch & the bike runs great doesn’t sound like the EHC is shot. Sounds like short in the switch & wiring
