No More Plug Reading

Well my thanks go out to hdlarry for giving me a better alternative on an air/fuel meter then to sul for always looking out for me so I can spend more money. Actually this time he saved me a bunch of money by hooking me up with meter that a guy used one time to tune a bike and then sell it on ebay where I scored it. This thing is a great tool so far I've learned that my mixture was off but my jetting was close. Still working a little on the record feature and software that came with it. This takes 12 samples a second and can record 44 minutes of data. You don't have to constantly monitor the meter when you use this feature.But so far today just playing and running the engine at all different rpm's I was able to get a pretty steady reading from 13.3 to 13.6, which is not far off the 13.1 sweet spot.
 
Here's the meter with the 02 sensor. The meter itself runs on a 9 volt battery but you also need a 12 volt supply to pre heat the sensor. It has a cig. lighter adaptor for this and since I didn't have an adaptor handy I just pulled my jeep in the garage and used it.
 
Just remove the plug in my bung on my R&B pipe and then do a calibration followed by a pre heat cycle and install the warm sesnsor in my pipe.

 
And after going through the carb tuning process from scratch I was able to get pretty close. My original settings were producing a pretty lean condition the meter was reading around 12.4.

Those are pretty cool. I used a dynojet wide band commander on a camaro I used to run nitrous on. It had a gauge that went in the car

Where does the 13:1 number come from? I'll admit I don't know shit about tuning bikes but 14:1 is usually pretty good for n/a cars and around 12:1 for forced induction. Is 13:1 just running it on the safe side?

I've had good success using my AFR meter over the past 5 years. Primarily used on FI Harley's I've had, just about impossible to do your own FI bike without this. Should be a snap on a carbed bike which I will soon find out, now that my new LSR 2-1 exhaust has arrived.

In the past, I made up an adapter to connect the O2 sensor power to a hardwired charger connector that I had tied to my battery. Then temporary mounted AFR meter to the tank and took off for some test runs. This seem to give me more accurate readings with the air flying into and around the A/C.

Yeah larry thats what I'm working on now just made a clip that plugs into my battery tender then will strap meter on the tank with a towel under it. I made a bunch of recordings but my memory filled up before I could go for a ride so thats next. The 13.6 I'm running now is at 2500 to 3500 range which is supposed to the optimum for "cruising range" but i need to take some high speed passes to see where I'm at higher rpm's
