Lost Key, got spare and does not fit, pulled coil cover off and pulled ignition switch to put in aftermarket switch I had for ATV. Found key, put original ignition switch back in and cover back on. Seeemed like plug wires were on tight when I put cover back on. So, turned on switch, lights came on and speedo cycled through. Hit run, then start, Starter cranked right up but bike won't start. Only a backfire and cough through the air cleaner. Tried several times and no go. Had to run into work. When I get home, plan to tear coil cover back off or am I just missing something easy. Do I have to diconnect the batter and reset the EHC?

Did you take the wires off the coil. Someone else on here took their cover off and reversed the wires from the ignition module. Cranks and pops but will not start. Check your manual for the front and rear wire color.

Are you going to the bike fest next weekend?

Will pull the cover when I get home, hopefully just switched wires. I may go on Sunday. On vacation thru Saturday, bass fishing for a week in the Pocono's

Wires were switched, bike running fine. :job: Mostly largemouth out of the lakes. May hit a river or two for smallies. Not super optomistic, looks like we have a heat wave moving in next week. Ahh, who cares, still vacation and the Jack Daniels will be flowing. After a few drinks, guppies will turn into 50# striped bass when I tell the stories that night.
