hi ya'll. just had a new front tire mounted yesterday,and noticed a sign advertising at the service desk. have your tires filled with nitrogen for 20.00 each. what a the advantages of that over regular air? just didnt know if that was justifiable or not:eek::eek: any ideas??:confused::confused:

No, you dont need it. Race cars and aircraft, thats about it.

Nitrogen doesnt support moisture, and remains relatively unchanged with temperature increases and decreases. Your tires will lose about one pound of pressure per month by themsleves anyway so you would need to maintain the pressure with nitrogen should you decide to go that route...Just fill them with dry air and you, like a majority of other riders will be fine.

What is the reccommended air pressure for front and rear tires???

:eek: $20.oo a piece. Around here its $3.00 and in my opinion its not worth the $3.00. Just check your tires at least once a month.

o k, thank for the responses!! kinda the feeling i had. you might know this was at a
harley stealership. i work at an airport and am familiar with jets using nitro in their tires,but on a bike???, kinda threw me!! believe they said 40-45lbs on that front tire
(metzler;90/90/21). once again THANKS!!!

I install nitrogen here at my shop personally I really think it not worth what people charge one reason that dealership was charging so much is that the machine is so expensive but I built my own . The only good thing about nitrogen is if you have tpms sensors it keeps the light from popping on from the tire heating up and cooling down and air pressure changing.
