new to the 300 tire

Just bought my bike Sunday, got a chance to take it out yesterday for a little ride, just wanted to ask how long it takes to get use to the big 300 tire, use to a 240 but to me big difference,like the bike didnt want to turn,how much air pressure should used. Any tips or advice .Thanks

I got my new Dog a few months back, went from a 200 on my Softail Custom to the 300 tire. All I can tell you is to take it easy at first. It was a bit different, but now it feels normal to me.

40psi front, 42psi rear is the standard. Some here tweek the rear pressure. The more you ride the more you get use to the feel of the 300 tire and the bike. Just take it slow to start with.

I just got mine too and dont get to ride it much due to my distance from the bikes but I like it.....does take some getting used to but as stated before take it easy to start...

I am running considerably lower tire pressure than recomended, to soften the ride a little..all well so far.

You have to counter steer more than on a traditional bike. I have a 05 Chopper and have ridden the K9, I didn’t notice much difference.:2thumbs:

I went from a HD Fatboy with a 130 tire. It took a little getting used to and I am still not sure I am throwing enough weight around corners??? My HD was lowered so I always respected the corners as I do still.

Lean, counter steer and 35psi in rear tire. You'll get used to it very fast.

After putting about 100 miles on mine this week (been sneaking out when it is above 40) I am getting used to mine. Just taking it easy and learning what it will do in different situations.

yep as Dingo said....after a few hundred miles....you will get use to it...if you never rode a big tire bike....just take it easy and enjoy!

Suppose it would be comparable to the first time you ride a big woman...but then I wouldn't know about that...HOWEVER, I rode all the models on the BD Demo Truck a few months ago and I was surprised that the 300 rode so easily. I think it's a matter of how you use the "hip" action baby! RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!

countersteer is your friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if doing a u-turn, don't be afraid to hang your ass off the opposite side. most important, look where you want to end up not right in front of the bike.

Is there any difference to the ride of a soft tail vs a rigid on a 300 tire? I hear they ride the same.

Going from an '05 Chopper with a 250mm rear to a K9 with a 300mm rear, I can say I had more of an adjustment getting used to the longer bike and bigger turning radius than with the wider rear tire.

Handling is a good trade off for the badass looks of the 300. Actually backroads are a breeze as long as you keep the speed comfortable but if you want to run harder then you work harder. High speed interstate curves are more difficult, slow down and then burn your buddies ass in the straightaways!

it is very important to counter steer that way when you are in the courner and hit a bump it ill not straghten up.i was a bit freeked out the first fast courner i took and hit a bump and was then heading for a car coming the other way. :bang::bang:

just take it slow and easy at first, set up your turns, you will get used to it fast, its just seat time is all it takes, I can't wait to go 360 !
