Welcome to the site, where abouts in RI are you? I live down in Westerly myself and know a few other members in the general area as well. What kind of info are you looking for on the bike?

If I remember right, there was only 26 of the Vintage Classic made in 2000 and that's the last time they made them. Like I said before, I almost bought one 2 years ago. They are good lookin bikes and all 26 have the same paint scheme, I believe. correct me if i'm wrong. Call BDM they will give you info.

I believe it was the last production run for the Vintage Classic. I've got a '98 Vintage Classic, I think the 1999 production run was cancelled and they only made a few of the 2000.

Yes this is a 2000 Vintage Classic. If you look at the vin number on the neck the last 2 digits will tell you the number in the series 1-25 your bike is. Bought mine in 2000 and still have it. Great distance bike. Also, all of the 2000 came with detachable saddle bags, windshield, and sissy bar, long 2into1 fishtail pipe, and spoke wheels. Kept ripping spokes out so Bigdog put these Sturgis Wheels.

Well this is an old thread but I have just joined and found it. If anyone's reading this I have # 18 of the 25 Vintage Classics that were the final run produced for the millennium. I believe they were officially designated with the model year 2000 but I took delivery of mine as an ex- factory order in Dec 1999 while living in Florida. I put 30k miles on it before returning with it to live in NZ permanently in 2003. I have only done 3.5 k miles since. I had lots of mods done under warranty. After 2 replacements of the original BD finally installed a Hooker Header exhaust system on it. The bike then dyno'd 100 HP and 107 Ft lb of torque at the back wheel. That collapsed the rear wheel spokes and I fought BD to get the rear wheel replaced with a alloy spoked mag of my choice with matching front wheel, disc rotors and belt pulley. I had a new matching seat built by the makers of the original but with a backrest included with matching leather, stitching and studs. I replaced the handle bars with slightly narrower set from same maker as originals and they sweep back an extra 2.5 inches - a great setup for 500 ml days of which I did many. The motor is barely broken in but the chrome is bubbling on the heads etc. the rear wheel has always rubbed up under the guard under heavy load and hitting a bump. Put progressive air shocks on and run at 80 Lb which is better but cant carry a pillion. The rubber mounts on the swing arm last less than 3000mls until they begin to sag and throw the bike out of alignment. Makes for poor cornering but I am used to it. I built a hidden receiver hitch and towed a small trailer to Sturgis and back from Seattle in 2002. I Have air- horns mounted in the nacelle which have saved my skin more than once. If the bike has not been started more than a few weeks, after cranking a few times when it does eventually start it drops 1/2 to 1 pint of oil out the crank case breather. I would love a fix for that. After 12 years this bike, quirks and all is part of me and I hope to have it til the day I die. I would love to hear from others who have had one from new or a number of years.

S&S or TP Engineering motor? Might make a difference with the oil out of the breather problem. Mine does that, but only after a few months not ridden (like on the first start of Spring after a northern US winter in the garage). I have the TP 107.
I just learned to live with it. Sounds like your trouble might be worse than mine though.
Check your swingarm bearings instead of just the rubber mounts, there was a recall on the bearings back then. My bearings tanked after 13K miles. Not sure what type they replaced them with but mine have been good so far at 50K now... crossing fingers of course.

I have had mine since 2001. Bought it new in Grand Rapids MI from Mike at SW V-Twin (since closed). Have ridden it accross the country a dozen times. Similar issue with the rear wheel (60 spoke). BD replaced under warranty with a 80 spoke. No issue since. Rebuilt the motor at 50K in Milwaukee two yeras ago. First big ride on the new rebuild was Sarasota to Phoenix. Just finished the first serious customizations since buying. Had them done by Creepers Customs in Lake Geneva, WI. I am 6'-5" with 38" inseam and have not yet found a bike that fits me like this one so... just put some serious money into getting another 10 years out of it. The rebuild increased the bore to somewhere around 111 ci and I am about 1500 miles on the new build. BD has been really great about the warranty during the first several years til it ran out. Have relied on good mechanics since. Never cared to see which of 26 I am. Will take a look. Here are some pics before the mods.

My Vintage with Mods

Here's what I did:
New freight train nacelle with extension and ultra-bright headlight (never could get the headlight down to the pavement due to rake)
New Kuryakyn LED highway lights and blinkers in lieu of traditional light bar
New quick detach Road King windshield
3" risers and 2" back with original handlebars
New black leather throughout in lieu of original studded
New LED rear taillight and blinker (via Arlen Ness) with new triple flash for brake
New 19" Banana Boards and custom billet brackets to move the whole assembly forward (removed engine guard and highwy pegs to loose the Gyno table spread eagle pose)
Other minor stuff.
Here's to another 50K. Headed to Texas from WI in November then on to Phoenix.
