Headed to Daytona tomorrow and cant get an answer about the legality of verticle plates. Talked to a sheriffs deputy in Volusia County and he said he thought they changed the law back in the end of 2011 and were writing $1000 citations for the offence. Said he couldn't find the statute to back it up and was going on memory. . . . . . Do any of the Florida guys know for sure?

They changed them to an equipment violation not the $1K fine. Vertical tags are legal IF you have a premanently attached toll transponder on your bike (Epass, Sunpass ect).

Nice that vertical plates are allowed.

What does a transponder have to do with it? Another way to force you to pay for something you don't need and raise income?

I have been trying to figure that one out also. Maybe if you run a toll the cameras have trouble reading a vertical plate? Since you have a transponder they aren't worried about you running the tolls? Dunno.

Abate got it repealed a couple years ago, they had to pay back all the $1200-$1500 dollar fines to those who requested it.:2thumbs:

The new law they want a Valid Sun Pass permanently mounted on the bike. My chopper will never be on the Turnpike it is a dumb work around. I don't currently have one or plan on getting one.

Why not, I used the Sunpass a few weeks ago on the dog when I rode over and met up with you - wherever the hell that was - I dunno....:D

Ashley just held it over her head while we rolled under...I should stuck it to her helmet though.....
