New storage bags

Picked up a new LARGER handle bar bag today, and decided to modify it so it would be easier to fine stuff in it. I took a stiff piece of plastic and glued a piece of vinyl to it. Then I cut the slots in it, so when it is mounted to the bars, it will help to surport it, and cut it to fit on the inside. Then I talked the wife into sewing some elastic strips to it. Then I glued it inside the bag.

continued next post.

When I rewired the bike I set it up so I could put a USB charger plug in the bag, so I could keep my phone charged. After I mounted it to the handle bars, I fill it with all the stuff I can’t live without. I still haven’t picked me up a speedometer yet, so I can clip my phone to the top of the bag, and plug it in. The speedometer app works great, but it will run the battery down in just a couple of hours. I also picked up a tool bag.

I just started looking at apps for GPS speedometers. I tried several before I ran across Ulysse speedometer. I bought the paid version and I been happy with it, except 2 hours from a fully charged battery its beeping. Thats why I added a USB charger plug in inside my bag, so it can keep the phone charged. Someday I'll break down and get a speedo, but seems like the bucks has to go to something more important when I get play money.

I used to use an app called "MyTracks" its made by Google to have a GPS log of my trips you could upload onto google maps and retrace your steps.

Well I updated it with the newer version and it stopped working :job:

Haven't made it out this year on any trips worth logging yet anyways

I am interested in hearing how you wired the USB into the bag. Where did you get the power from? This is a great idea and one that I need to do.

#1 my bike is hard wired. The low beam is wired in with my tail lights. That being said I just spliced into the head light wire for power. The little cheep USB plug didn't last long, so I put a cigerate lighter plug in there and I'm using a 12v charging plug now. That little plug JJ just posted looks like it would work great.
