new start button

I've had a couple of issues lately with my right hand control since I had the new faces welded on and new buttons for the rewire. You can see from the pic here (not very clear I'm afraid) that the throttle cable has been chaffing the wire for the right indicator. You can just make it out on the bottom right switch.

So I decided to put in a new start switch and move the wires for the indicator from the bottom switch to the top switch, which was the start button, and put a new start button in on the left side cover. Here is a pic of the new momentary switch after I hooked up some wire to the new switch and shrink wrapped. It gives you an idea of the size of the switch.

Heres a couple of pics of the new start switch in the side cover - I made a bit of mess drilling it as you can see but nothing I can't tidy up. The toggle switch above is for the air ride.

Got everything back together and it fired right up.

the old start button is now the indicator and the old indicator button is not now used. Show only!

On my 2006 K9 the start switch started acting up and would take many pushes to get it to finally engage and start the bike and I knew it would eventually fail and leave me stranded somewhere. My fix at this point is to shut the bike off with the key and never touch that damn off switch, just turn key on and hit run button and it fires right up. Anybody else having that issue or see this just being a temp fix? I'm assuming the off switch is failing and having trouble making the circut complete, so once it does, I'm hands off of that button. Appreciate the feedback.

Mizzou, sounds like your run switch is not working properly. It might be as simple one of the wires on the board broke off. Its an easy fix. Do a search with my name as I took some pics fixing my broken wires on the board.
