New Speedo

Looking to try and get everyone's thoughts on a new speedo... if you have the Dakota Digital or the BDM Medallion and why you chose one over the other.

I know Mad Dog is a site sponsor that offers the DD... is there someone on the site that can get a deal on the BDM?

As far as the BDM one... to fit the stock housing, it'd have to be the polished one correct? But that also matches the bars and controls and everything else too, correct?

I installed the BDM Medallion speedometer on my 07 Bulldog rather than the DD because it changes the tach ring and the speed at the same time. I didn't care for the tach ring on the stock speedometer. You can get either the polished or chrome an they will fit in you bucket. You have more options with the Madellion as far as setting it up for use. On the other hand, there is a lot of people on hear using the DD and seem to like it.

when I bought my k9, the dealer mentioned that the current speedo bounced. I had a DD on my 09 Rocker and loved it so it was a no brainer to put one in the Dog. Though the one in the Dog doesn't have nearly the functionality of the one for the Harley, still, to me, it was the best choice and I got it (new) for less than $200.

I had both. The DD worked fine but the tach was sparatic - worked - didn't work. . So i changed it out for the new BDM model. They both worked fine - just personal preference i'm guessing, I still have my DD (blue) if anyone is interested

I like to stick with the original BD parts if possible. Keeps the Big Dog a Big Dog.

Yea, I never cared for how the speedo always bounced... which is why I had planned on getting the DD. But when the supply ran out and I was leaving for Iraq before more would get in, I canceled the order. Since then BDM has come out with their upgraded version and I really like how not only do I get a digital speedo, but a no shit needle for my tach.

Question on it though... I read through the functions of it and it states that the low fuel light works for the EFI only. But I can't see where when ordering you specifiy EFI or Carb... are they all gonna have the same indicators but that one will never work for me since I don't have a low fuel indicator as it is now?

Mine came ready to plug in, just had to change connectors(they are supplied with new tach)Looks like it chould work with the carb bike as well. you just will not use the wire for the low fuel.

I installed the new Medallion speedo. There is no more needle bounce. Also has some nice features. I find the reset button is kind of hard to push and the speedo is a little hard to read in the daylight. The overhaul performance of it is very good.

I just changed my stock speedo out with a DD from maddog and i love it got the blue one its easy to read day or night.

I've had the Medallion on my bike for a while now and really like it! To me it it is more customizable (ability to swap speedo/ tach readouts) and has more features than the DD.

I have the Dakota Digital on my bike and love it. Tells me Trip Mileage , Neutral , Looks Kewl at nite lit up Blue as far as MPH like the shape of it the diamond shape. Had no problems with it once calibrated correctly.

Not familiar with the medallian, but definitely like the large digital readout of the DD. My sight is getting so bad, I need reading glasses just to wipe my ass.

I got the Medallion, I like it. I've seen the Dakota Digital on other bikes, nice. But I prefer the Analog/Digital Medallion. :2thumbs:

Really sounds like you can't go wrong with either one of them!! Personal preference and price are probably the only real deciders in this.
