New rubber for the old Venoms-no-more

Time for new rubber on the Vintage. With the odd-ball rear wheel size of 160, I found myself with choices of 170 or 150 ... decided on Michelin 150's with a tube due to bead seal issues. Just finished a Wisconsin to Eastern Ohio run last night for the All Good Festival and man are they sweet. Feels like I fixed a slow leak with a perpetually low rear tire. I ran Venoms for 12 years ... never would have imagined. These Michelins upped my cornering confidence 100%.

And...another 50mpg + tankfull. Consistently got 170 miles to reserve but the last tank from Indy to Columbus, I misread the signs and cruised into Columbus without reading my odometer (I couldn't with my night glasses on anyway) ... finally hit reserve ten miles from Columbus ... reserved it to a BP about 15 miles later. As I always do, I reset my trip odometer and read the miles at 192!!! - purchased 4.3 gals. Man, this rebuild just keeps getting better.

This new Avon Venom I bought fits like a glove. You should really consider it at next swap.

Avon Venom AM42 160/80 B16 rear (bias ply, reinforced) 167mm wide (6.6") 81H
Per the tech at Avon USA (Dana), this size is specific fitment for our Dog.

I saw that. Terrific post. Excellent summary of a very elusive topic for the vintage group.
Thanks for being so thorough!

Thanks BDR - I just figured others might like to have this info available without the "Hunt". Maybe the admins will make it a sticky :D
