New Pipes

Finally got around to buying myself a new set of pipes. I went with the Santee LAF's after seeing Reapers bike. I know I will lose some low end but its something I am willing to deal with. After seeing the pipes on Reapers bike no other pipe would do. I took a pic of the mock install. Got a little tweaking to do so they are lined up perfect. Also need to get some longer bolts for the transmission mount. I love the sound and yes they are loud! I'm going to wrap and install them in the next few days . Also gonna get the carb tuned the best I can with these short pipes. I gotta say I love this forum! Never in a million years would I have taken on this project. All the HOW TO threads make it fun to learn something out of my comfort zone.

One of my friends have a set on his H-D and they do sound good, but man are they loud when you are behind him on the right side!

did you loose much power on low end?

doesnt matter i just had to have some myself..just ordered..thanks for part # etc..

i know no baffles can kill the torque..

anyone use torque cones?

My friend used torque cones because the H-D dealer told him that he would have to do so or loose all his low end torque. Truthfully without a dyno run in "real world" RPM's with and without the torque cones, the verdict is still out as to whether they really work or not.

I have no idea bud. You are welcome for the part #. It hasn't left the garage since I put them on. I still need to get my rear tire changed. Just haven't had time to get it to the shop. I know I will lose on the low end but I wanted these pipes so I will just have to live with it.

Congrats SAYIWONT and Splitlog, the pipes look great. I know when I saw them years ago they were the only pipes that would do for me. :2thumbs:
