New pipe, resulting flat spot

Hello,

I have a '05 Big Dog Ridgeback (117ci & Super G carb). Years ago I added a K&N air filter and had no problems. Recently I swapped the factory pipe with a Paul Yaffe Drag Pipe. Now I have a flat spot at 3,000rpm and up. It just appears to level off and I produce no real hp or thrust. The low end gained a little though. Im still using the factory jet, a 31 I believe. What size jet do you recommend i go to? Or is that not the problem?

Also, when I decel at 2,100rpm, I get an odd chatter feeling through the whole bike as if Im rolling over the rutnuts in the emergency lane on the interstate. Could this be related to the air/fuel mix being off a bit? This is the first time Ive felt this on a v-twin.

Please advise what to do or where to go to find the fix.
Thank you.

The chatter feeling sounds like a lose motor mount. Mine did that and I found my upper motor mount bolt lose... Check your motor mounts

Hey Brew,
Good call. I was passing time checking for anything that looked odd or was loose and sure enough, loose upper mount blot. Tightened her down, but havent done a test ride yet. Appreciate your time and knowledge...and thank you for serving our great country.

Hey Pancakecircus,
Thank you for the video. It was interesting and educational. Ill do more searches online for info. On a side note, it would be nice to see that 3/4 liter Honda.

the Honda's been on the side all summer, i'll be getting back to it soon. I might start a build thread on Do the Ton or on TCU. Otherwise i'll post some more pics once i get back into it. lost a little motivation once i got the Big Dog.

good luck figuring out your flat spot, make sure to post the fix
