new news about ehc from bigdog

i am being told they are going to stop makeing ehc for big dog and they are making a wireing kit simaler to wire plus but it will be a dirrect fit but will not be avalable until the end of oct or so they say :job: i am being told 495.00 is the price and there are makeing 90 units that is all i got so i hope this helps some of you i still bougth the w/c 1. y wait 2 who knows when they will be in and we dont know how they will work :spank:

Just curious where did you hear that? I agree the Wp has been out for a while and has worked well

I've heard this to.. from a bdm dealer.. but I'm waiting to see what thay make.. & how it works.... then I'll go from there..

This is interesting. Anyone know who actualy made the ehc for big dog and are they still n business?
If I need one I think I would go wire plus as we know from members here they work.

Wire-Plus is known to be a virtually trouble-free plug and play system that was designed by an independent entity to replace almost all of the wire harness. for now, the BDM replacement is just an unknown fix of a system that is troublesome. I, fortunately, have not had any of that trouble. but, if i did, i think i would go with the Wire-Plus even though a little more expensive initially to stay away from the possible headaches of the new BDM system until it has proven itself. :zz2cents:

i heard it from my local dealer who was trying to get some info for me for a new ehc and bdm called him and told him they r not makeing the ehc anymore

I haven't had any trouble with my ehc (yet), but it's always on my mind while on a trip. It sure would be nice to have one less thing to worry about.

FYI

There has been some threads on this forum pointing out backorders and shortages of EHCs. I was at Gateway Big Dog here in St. Louis on Aug 26th and asked about them. They have them if you need/want one and can't find them.

From what I was told it will be a plug in play set up, a lot easier than the WP to install. Now who knows if this is true or not.

Since the electrical system on the Dog is its Achilles heel a simpler, more reliable replacement to the EHC would be one of the best things BDM could do.

And after all, at $400-$500 for a couple of solid state relays it'll still be a cash cow for them (although hopefully they won't sell as many!)

Time will tell...

This might be a dumb question, but does the Wire Plus unit work on both carbureted and EFI models, or does the EFI need something special to work?

My '05 Ridgeback is at Rock Star Customs in NJ. My mechanic told me that the new EHC module is from WP and is a direct. plug-and-play replacement for the BD EHC. And yes, he said the initial release is on 90 units and should be available sometime mid October.

I actually was hoping that my bike would be out of service for the last 2 months of the regular riding season... :-(

well thats good but the wire plus works. And only makin 90 will sell out quick.
