I could have sworn there was a tattoo thread started but could not find it. Anyways, here is mine. 5 hours in the chair yesterday. All I can say is it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be for my 1st tat.

Nice tat Mario!! The arm will be sore for a few days due to the amount of black in the tat. I had the POW/MIA put on my right arm and wondered why it hurt after then I realized the coloring was a majority of the tat and you have 3 or more needles doing that than than 1 for the outline.

Thanks All.

I think the filler needle actually had 13 needles in it:spank: . The guy said they go up to 25 or so, I can't remember but he said they rarely use them because they get the job done too quick?

yep..if I remember correctly...those are called Magnum needles...and they come in different numbers of needles....I was told they use those for shading and doing big areas of work...like back pieces...sleeves...etc. I guess it depends on what type of piece your getting and what kind of artist you have....just like everything else...everyone has their own technique of tattooing!

I know there are guns they use for coloring can have an assortment lot of needles. Something like yours would take more than a smaller one due to the size. They probably dont use the 25 due to being paid by the hour!! :bang:

All depends on the persons skin/texture. While the more needles will get the job done much faster not every person takes ink the same way. For me the largest they can use for the best healing was a 13 mag, but most of my shading was done with a 7 mag. The multiple needles may cause more scabbing and result in color drop out and need re hit.

Nice tat CC Rider.

I agree alhall. I will need to go back for a touch up in about a month because I can already see different shades and some very light spots. The 13 may have been a little to big for my skin. Either way, I'm happy with it and already have a chest piece picked out for when we get back from sturgis. The only down fall is 4 weeks with no sun or swimming. I don't think I would have done this in June if I would have known that......

yep....when I got both of my arms sleeved....I did them in the fall...so I didn't have to worry about the sun or the chlorine from a pool to mess them up...

I get all my work (1/2 sleeve, full sleeve, chest plate, and upper back) done in the fall and winter months just for that reason. Nice tat's.

It's addicting too..... Wife is getting an entire Asian back piece (mom's Korean)

You might be tempted to skimp on that time frame and think "a little sun probably won't be a big deal" but DON'T. I had a little done on my leg right above my foot where it doesn't heal well already and I didn't keep out of the sun enough and it didn't work out well. The colors are barely viewable and the black outline went to shit even though I put aquafor on it and did pretty well at keeping it from drying out.

I hear ya. The whole "for life" thing puts it into a perspective and does not make the 4 weeks seem that long. I rode to work today not really thinking about it. 97 and sunny out. Just got back from the drug store. Got a ace bandage to put over my arm while I'm riding just to make sure I don't get any sun.

as far as drying out a new tattoo you guys might want to get some stuff called bagbalm dont laugh but it is for cow uters. it is real heavy cream dont put alot on it will break your skin out in bumps. I have about 80% of my body done and all my friends are tattoo artist. it is great for healing tattoos and if you use it right it will not pull the color out of your skin.

Exposure to Sunlight and Artificial UV Rays will DESTROY your tattoo!!!

Here is a some great guidelines.

Steel City Tattoo

I NEVER leave the house till after applying sun block. Morning ritual, right next to the razor.

This is the stuff I was using when I got my arms sleeved....I bought it right at the tattoo parlor:2thumbs: also it helps preserve the color too! I used both...the salve for the first 2-3 days...then after that..I used the lotion for a couple of weeks..
