Well I will formally introduce my self.. I'm Deven, Just bought a 2004 bigdog chopper. I love the bike so far, Ive spent the last 4 days figuring out querks.. I have some that are unanswerd so i figured id ask the pros!

Now on fork seals, Im thinking the need replaced since a lot of oil is around the seal and what not got quoted a price of 150? is that good?

Next would be a howling or screaming of some sort when im in the gas a tiny bit, Im thinking something to do with the primary???

Oil around the carb area.. Not sure if this is normal i noticed it alot yesterday..

and last but not least a get a mini back fire when i go to hit the gas sometimes it wont stall or sput just a bam then its good? lol thats the best i can decscribe those problems.. Thanks for helping.

First, Devon...better save your love for your country and your children, not a motorcycle. My BDM is the only bike that has even left me stranded on the side of the road.

A little bit of oil around the top of the seal does not mean the bushings and seals need to be replaced. Do the forks slide well? No, $150 is way too much for a pair of seals.

The back firing is not good. You probably have after market pipes and the carburator is not properly jetted.

I hope you can work on your own bike. If not, nows a good time to learn.

Welcome Devon from south Mississippi. The oil around your carb is probably coming from the upper o'ring of the pushrod or perhaps a leak around the top of the rocker box. As for the "screaming", I woud first check the tension on the primary chain. It's easily adjusted through your inspection plate on the primary. Also, check to make sure you have the right amount of fluid in your primary. There's a lot of different opinions on what fluid to run in your primary, but I run type F ATF and never had issues. It takes 32 oz in the primary.

Welcome from Ohio. I to am running a 04 Chopper. Not having the problems you are though. Its all fixable. Maybe the howling or sqeaking is coming from the belt? Sometimes mine would make noise. Put a little belt dressing on it and see if it makes a difference.
