New Front Brake Caliper Needed - 05 BDM Chopper

Hi All,

My mechanic advises me that I need a new front brake caliper.

Can anyone advise what options I have in terms of parts that will fit out of the box?

Can you suggest which is the best and why as well, just out of interest?

Also where is the best place to purchase such a caliper?

Thanks,
Lewis

I cant get hold of the guy. Called him and emailed him.

I spoke to a British front brake manufacturer (Billet) and they advised that the performance machine calipers are good quality calipers. They can provide me with Billet calipers that will fit the below dimensions in either 6 pot or 4 pot.

The 6 pot calipers will provide better braking performance. Can anyone see any issues with this?

Disc Diameter: 290mm
Center to Center thread distance on caliper: 69mm
Thread pitch 3/8” UNC

This compares about the same as the billet 4 pot equivalent. I'd like to get better braking power so is there a performance machine 6 pot?

True but chances are if you train yourself to do it normally, you are more likely to use both in an emergency and get better stopping power.
definitely, but the times somebody has pulled out on me, adrenaline has kicked in faster than the brain and it is certainly a matter of training to NOT grab as hard as you can. wish it would never happen but everybody better be ready for it cause it's gonna' happen, just don't know when.

Had that happen to me once. I honestly believe my asshole locked up tighter than either brake, and I even left skid marks on the pavement !! Not something I care to do on a regular basis!
