New Exhaust

I just changed out my exhaust pipes and the first thing I noticed was the difference in the shading of the exhaust as it exits the pipes. Now I know that the rear pipe is always going to run hotter than the front pipe but this seems excessive.

Looks like maybe the front intake is worn or maybe the valve guide. Seems since I moved up here north the motor has not run as smoothly as it did down in Southern Kalifornia.

Looks like a top end job in the future. Now to find a good shop to do it right.

Ray

You might want to check to make sure you dont have an intake manifold leak.

Good call! Time for the ole brake clean trick. I know I checked mine twice this year to make sure.

That does look excessive.

How bout a pic of them on the bike there Master Chief!
Yes Sir Capt!!
I had it ceramic coated internally and it sounds real nice. A little quieter than my drap pipes. Waiting on a bracket extension from Martin Bros that I didn't get.

Here is my collection. I selling the black Ghetto Blaster if anyone wants it.

Nice pipes Raywood how much for the black Ghetto Blaster
I bought the pipe on Ebay for $350. It'a blem but nothing real bad. It's never been installed on a motor and I wrapped it with the tape but it can be removed or finished (clamps). I think Martin Bros uses hi-temp paint so the pipe can just be repainted when needed with a spray can.

It also didn't come with a bracket so you would have to contact Martin Bros to see if they have one for your particular setup or make one.

But I would take $300 for it if you're interested.

Thanks,
Ray :flag:

The Saga continues

Well I sure wasn't impressed with the Martin Bros Zig Zag pipe. I couldn't use the rear peg and it burned a hole through my leather pants below the knee. The bracket didn't fit either.
So, I finally got around to painting the Ghetto Blaster pipe and installing it. It seems to look good so far but I will not know till I get it on the road.
It sure did smoke after I first started it up. It was trial and error trying to get the radiator clips orientated right so I could bolt on the pipes. The bracket doesn't fit just like the Zig Zag so have to make my own.
When I took off the Zig Zags I found that I didn't have the lean burn on the rear cylinder that I had when removing the Stainless Creation pipes so changing out the intake seals must have done the trick!
Here are a couple pics and a video.
Enjoy,
Ray

Ray, did you have your service guy check the valve guides? I got new heads, guides, rockers...the whole deal. I couldn't figure out where all my oil was going. They figured out that it wasn't an intake leak or the jetting, so they broke it down & saw that the oil had been leaking down through the guides and burning off in the combustion chamber. I was burning a quart of oil every 300 miles, and my spark plugs looked like a roasted pig. The bike had been running rich from the factory so whoever was putting my engine together must of had his or her mind on punching out for the day. As of today, my spark plugs finally look like everyone elses on this board.

I check them out every time I pull the pipes. I don't burn any oil and everything seems fine after replacing the intake seals. On my latest picture of the pipes I removed the burn looks good so seems I fixed the problem.
This evo motor is doing great and so much better than my old Shovelhead. Boy, I don't miss that motor! :D
Mechanic at my dealer said I shouldn't have to worry about a top end for many more miles. I was glad to hear that.

That's quite the collection. I can see where the rear peg and pant leg burning would create an issue. Still looking to get a set of pipes. Taking to much time for a decision but I just don't know what I want just yet.:bang:
