I love my Cruise Mate but I don’t really use it as a cruise control the way I would in a car. It is a throttle lock and a very good and easy to use throttle lock but living in Colorado there are a lot of ups and downs so it does not really work as a cruise control. That said I still think it is one of the best mods I have don’t to the bike. I can lock the throttle and give my arm a rest or I can just tighten the Cruise Mate a little to make the throttle a little stiffer and that allows you to relax your grip for a while but still have control of the throttle.
Hey Tom... can you put a cruise mate on metric cruisers that have cables coming out the front of the controls? It has the hole in the bottom of the control.

Gas Man,

Assume you're talking about Honda, working on that now, hope to have one available soon. Because of the configuration inside the switch housing, can't install from bottom, so working on one like Big Dog (patch in end of stud) that will install between cables in front of housing.

Have actually done a couple of Suzuki's like that and they worked out well and the owners really like them.

Thanks Carlos

Yeah, Cruise-Mate was actually designed for my 01 Electra Glide Classic, but popular demand forced me to adapt to many bikes.

Presently working on the next generation for Harley's, it will be just like the Big Dog, low profile and easier to install because I've eliminated the friction shoe.

Don't see the public release of the upgrade for some time yet, still testing in the field, maybe late this year or early next.

When it is released the upgrade will be real inexpensive and easy to install for those Harley riders that are interested.

Not sure about 09, but 08 only has the cable less throttle on three models stock, Ultra Classic, Road King Classic and Road Glide. It is available as an option though on others.

Nice thing is, Cruise-Mate still works on the "fly by wire" controls, installation is a little different because there are not cable holes for the jig to bolt into so the lower half of the housing has to come off the bike and drilled in a drill press go guarantee a straight hole.

I have installed on the new controls.

Went on a day cruise today and got to use it. Gas is right about it feeling weird driving without having to turn the throttle. Worked like a charm and had a few Harley guys check it out at one of the scheduled stops. Asking me what it cost for the Harley's. Said they abandoned the screw throttle locks on there bike a long time ago and liked what they seen.

How do i find the discounted Cruise-mate?
If you read through his threads you will read that he was able to sell the rights to BDM. He cannot sell it anymore so you need to contact our BD parts sponsor Nelson and have him get you one.

I have one. Black Dog put it on when I had the new EHC (factory covered) put on, I FUCKIN LOVE THIS THING. My C5 C6 C6 C7 pinched nerves make my throttle hand go numb so when I have to shake it out (especially on the highway) I would lose so much speed...man, what a great invention.
