I've been hit up with a lot of PM's asking if I know anything about the new scoot so here is what I know and today I should be receiving some more pictures to add to this for your viewing delight.

The new Chopper is somewhat designed after the 04 Chopper as you can tell but with quite a few changes:

The rake has been kicked out to 42 degrees instead of 40

The 111 cu in engine is powder-coated silver vice polished running with a Super G carb

It's using a standard HD style primary system and starter

Still have the Baker 6 spd although I'm not sure if it's the DD6 but assume it's a OD6 to same cost. No more DSSC system here.

Here’s the good news, there is no more EHC, it is all relays and fuses with standard hand controls. I still uses the same ignition.

The speedo is the new sealed model used on the Bulldog.

The Handlebar, risers, hand controls, mirrors, forward controls etc. are off-the-shelf sized items.
That means that when you open the J&P or Drag catalog if it will fit modern Harley, it will fit this bike.

The wheels that are on the current bike that was unveiled at the Indy Show are off of a Coyote. Still in production are new exclusive Chopper wheels that will come out later.

Production should start in May.

Ok, that is all I know but as I hear more I will post it here for all of you. Should get some more pictures today.

I'm liking it but as you all know the Chopper is my favorite model of all time!! :D

dumping the EHC is brilliant -- going with standard sizes should raise the customer's satisfaction (if they are smart enough to know). Kinda makes ya wander if they are targeting some of the undecided HD market

Cool deal on the info.

No more EHC? Wish there was an "easy" way to do this to older models.

Great looking bike with many mechanical - electrical improvements. Hats off to the engineering staff at BDM for listening and addressing the issues with there product rather than just hoping the problems will go away. At 21k it's a great bang for your buck.:2thumbs:

Thats some good news. I consider those changes an improvement...

Controls will be chrome.:D

Guys/Ladies, BDM reads this site and responded to the issues in a positive way with the re introduction of the biker favorite, the chopper model.

BDM is moving forward and paying a lot of attenting to the owners.

They are also moving into new markets-Canada, Europe and UAE, Other locations around the world are being looked at to see what it will take to certify Big Dogs elsewhere. BDM is being very proactive in this down economy and positioning themseves to be the big leader in the market they own, the heavyweight custom cruiser segment.:flag:

I think BDM has another hit in their impressive lineup.:2thumbs:

it looks as though by making a cheaper bike they are, in many ways, making a better bike. Could be just in the nick of time.
