Well Got the wife's bike finally built and painted. Gave it to her on Mothers Day. It is a 1980 Yamaha 650xs. Put a hardtail on it painted it Marble Candy Apple Red with Tribal flames. Now I have to teach her how to ride then it is off to the safety course:whoop:

thanks guys. You can pick these little 650's up for around $500 all day. Very simple to build and parts are cheap. I am going to build me one but rake the hell out of it and put a 7 inch rise and a fat tire on the rear and just old school the shit out of it just to barhop around town with the wife.

Go to 650Rider.com and look at some of the pics of what people have done to these little bikes they are kick ass!!

I put around $500 in it. Bought used tanks and fenders and all other parts. Buddy of mine had paint left over so we just paiinted a layer of silver down then put the red down and took saran wrap and pressed it on the wet paint to give it the marble look then anothe layer of red then the tribal flames.

There is a website called Mikesxs and all he deals with is Yamaha 650's parts and they are new and cheap! The only major thing I had to do to this bike is replace the piston rings and a head gasket

Nope I bought a 5 foot stick at the local fence company here. They twist them for you and the 5 foot stick only cost $20. They build wrought iron fences

If anyone is interested in building one of these I can give you pointers and where to get parts cheap. They are really simple to build and they are a good starter bike since they are light. My wife is only 4'10 and around 100lbs and she can literally man handle this bike. Plus the little perks you get for building her one will pay off dearly!!!:whoop: :2thumbs:
