New Battery - Only Flashing Turn Signals?

Installed a new battery today and reset my 2008 EFI K9 according to the sticker next to the battery i.e. "turn key on, push run, turn off for at least 15 seconds". Tried this but only get two flashing yellow leds on the tach and all four turn signals are flashing. Is there another way to reset the electronics? I'm reading through the 2008 service manual now, but no luck so far. Thanks and any help.

I don't get anything except the flashing turn signals. Normally I would get the tach lite up showing everything ready to start. I don't get any indication that it's ready for starting. Nothing happens when I push the start button. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the lights, but I would start by testing the battery with a voltage gauge to make sure ut is charged. It is possible the battery came uncharged. Also check the voltage gauge when you try and start it to make sure it is holding voltage. It shouldn't drop below 10 or 11 volts. It's possible you just got a bad battery. Also check to make sure you got all wires on the battery and your connections are tight. This sounds like a bad battery issue to me. Swap it out with your old one and try and start it. If it starts you know this issue is with your new battery.

Where did you get your battery and what’s the CCAs? As Kdub stated a new battery doesn't mean anything unless it's fully charged and the CCA's are high enough to crank over those 117 CCIs. A fully charged battery should read in the neighborhood of 12.8 volts. I'd suggest if you just bought the battery to let it charge to a full charge and put an ohm meter on it and make sure the voltage is good. Reset the scoot after ensuring the volts are good, then try and start it. Good luck!

Battery is a new Harley Davidson heavy duty unit and fully charged 24 hrs. before installation. I witnessed it being tested at the Harley shop before I bought it. It is rated well above the BDM 270 CCA unit that came from the BDM factory. All I did was install a new battery. Wiring connections to the battery are correct and tight. Hopefully someone on this forum has had and solved this problem. Thanks for everyone's input.

PS - When and if I solve this problem, I will post the findings for all to know. Thanks again.

Measure the voltage across the battery terminals for a minimum of 12.8 volts for the EHC to properly function.

Make sure all CRIMPED wires at the battery are crimped tight.

Reinstall the main heavy gauge battery wires closest to the battery terminals on the stack up.

The service manual will give you EHC LED light definitions and a sequence of mormal operation, I believe.

WOW!! FOUND MY PROBLEM!!!!

Kept checking wiring, reading this forum, eye balling the schematics, scratching my butt, etc. and finally FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!! "Even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then".

Remove the seat - there is nut to the lower right of my battery that provides the ground (frame) connection for three small black wires. I happened to touch this connection and discovered it was loose. Tightened it up and all the tach lights come on correctly and the engine turns over. WOW, WOW, WOW. Thanks for your comments. I suggest everyone check this ground connection on their bike.

Glad you are up and running. Also thanks for posting your solution! All too many times I see posts with a problem and many respnd with advice but don't hear back from the person who started the thread, telling us the final result!

I had that same issue when I put the battery back in the bike last spring, Turns out I missed putting a wire back on the battery. When I saw your post that was the first thing that came to mind. Glad you found it.. :2thumbs:
