Just scored two new tires. Ordered from the same place Kaptian Amerika got his from. Best deal out there. Now my scoot will have new shoes for the rest of the year. My rear has way over 20,000 miles on it. It's the one I got when I was in Daytona over 2 years ago after my near fatal blow-out.

how do you get over 20K on a tire I wont make 4K,,, I have been wondering how some get so many miles.. I dont even get that out of a stock HD tire.. no burnouts,. & I keep the pressure checked..

Because Ray lives in Washington St., so he put at least 16K of those miles on the tires, while riding in the SNOW! Less wear and More Fun! :whoop: :2thumbs:

My experience taught me the material of the roads you ride on is the biggest factor.
In the past on the same bike I have gotten 10k on a rear tire mostly on blacktop.
When I moved I put a new tire on, same bike same brand tire and did more riding on concrete roads. Then I only got 5k
I'm not 100% on the science here but this was my experience.

Heat, road temp and what the roads are made of play a large part, Go to Vegas in Aug and watch your tires melt

Well I don't know why I get a lot of mileage out of my tires. 90% or so of my miles are on Interstates. I've gone through 4 tires (rear) now and the have gotten 20,000 out of each of them except the 3rd one when I had my blow out in Daytona two years ago with a new tire.

I will add that other members here have gotten the same mileage out of the 250's and also that most of those here with 300's report that they don't last as long for whatever reasons.

I also forgot to add that Avon is offering a $25 rebater per tire (Kaptian Amerika posted in his 300 thread) till the end of May so my actual cost will only be $280 for the two tires. Not bad huh? And of course I will mount them myself and I already have the bearings ready for replacement in the hubs.

Blacktop vs concrete = interesting topic and perhaps a poll to weed this out
250 vs 300 for mileage, could it be so simple?

I got 10k out of my 300 avon venom and I'm going to get the same out of the 300 Cobra I have on now.

I check my tire pressure all the time. I think the heat has a lot to do with it and the tire type.

Some guys I ride with have Harleys and they are getting about 10k out of their rear tires. AIH Swank runs a Metzler 280 on his AIH and is getting more mileage out of it.

So running my 280 at 25 psi here in the Arizona heat means I'll be replacing my tire every thousand miles or so.... Maybe I should buy a truck full so I can get a volume discount...

My '99 bulldog runs a 180 rear tire, 2500 miles max, front tire 4000 miles max, both Avon.
I am blown away by the mileage claims you guys are making! I only have about 2500 on my new K9 and the tires are holding up great. I really don't get it.

It has a lot to do with the weight of the rider. No, really and truly, it does!

Had a Harley dealer tell me that wear on the rear tire is from shifting down at speed and using the motor to brake the bike. Of course a sure way is to do burnouts and hard braking with the rear brake. Tire skids a little and thus the wear. I myself, have had a hard time getting more than 5-10k on any rear tire on any road surface.
