Hi, hope someone can be of help please ! I have just tried to fit a new airfilter to my K9 ( 2009 Carburettor model) the new spike airfilter fits ok, ( a few problems with choke, but will over come this.

My question is, what do i do with the pipe that goes to the back cylinder.

On photo No1 it shows the new filter and shows the black pipe, on photo No 3 this shows the back of the original airfilter conecter and where the pipe fits as standard.

What do i do with this pipe please, ? block it off ? drill out the new airfilter housing and put pipe in to take this ?

Any help would be very much apprecited .

Either extend the hose and add a small filter to it or add a fitting to the underside of the elbow.

Most people add another filter.

On another note. You need to support the filter on the outboard side of the carb. That extra weight out there will cause issues later.

On my Harley I ran it to the bottom of the frame and hid a filter there.

It is the engine breather hose to let gasses that get by the rings escape.

It is an emission thing. Not sure how strict they are....might need to run it to the elbow to comply.

Glad to hear it

Happy to help.

If I am not mistaken that hose goes to a one way valve. If it does, I would extend it from there if you need the hose longer for your new filter.

Remember what Little-Boo said

You need something like this

D&M Custom Cycle CARB SUPPORT BRACKET/ BREATHER KITS from TRICKED OUT CUSTOM CYCLES

If you run it without the support bracket you will have to replace the Intake gaskets over and over and over and over again. So get one.

Carlos :D
Here is an example of what you need – This stuff is everywhere so keep - looking if you don’t like these. :2thumbs:
Enrichner Knob and Cap
Just the thing for when you are using an aftermarket intake on your S&S™ Carb. Simply unscrew the stock enrichner and screw in our beautiful new unit complete with show chromed knob.

Not an answer to your question but just my input about your new filter.... Lots of us, including myself, have had problems running this type of filter in the horizontal position as you have it in the photos.... If you run it in the vertical position you might find the Dog runs a lot better. Plenty discussed here in the forum on this matter.

Kennybob & Francoblay , many thanks, very good advice, will get the choke (Enrichner) nob as was wondering how to sort that, many thanks . most apprecited.

One last question : i have a set of V&H radius pipes coming 2-2 from Bikers dream atlanta, they are sending me also the jets which are "This recommended jet kit will provide optimum performance out of your S&S G carburetor when installed with our Big Radius exhaust system. Kit includes .076 main jet and .031 intermediate jet." do these sound correct ?

many thanks

Hi Steve,

the jets seem to be right.

But they more depend on your intake - are you running stock or K&N or the S&S Filter-setup?

I run a 34 / 78 in my XXXcarburetor together with a highly modified BDM air intake and open pipes.

I’m sure when you called and ordered the pipes he ask you the elevation of your present location. If they recommend it I would go with it. Don’t forget to remove the Auxiliary Bowl Vent Plug #14
This page has good information and will help you a lot. They will send you the settings to start with (I think it’s a quarter turn difference)
S&S Cycle | Carb Quick Guide

One other thing no one ever talks about is the little blue o-ring that you might find in the bottom of your carb after you take it apart. (Found mine in the bottom of the bowl and had no clue where it went) Here is a picture of it. :flag::flag::flag:

Don’t forget to wipe the news pipes with alcohol as to remove all finger prints after insulation or they will burn into the new pipes forever.
Those are the same pipes I got and I slow way down around the law dogs house and cars – they are LOUD :2thumbs:

I have standard filter at moment, but have a spike one to fit , which i like look of, Bikers dream says " i wouldnt use it, as bike will misfire" i read here that better pointed up rather than forward ..... so not quite so sure what to do ,, think i will fit pipes as they be here by weekend , then see if all runs ok , then if good try filter, if it runs crap, then put standard filter back on,,,
