neutral difficulties

Is neutral that difficult to find on these big dogs? I've read a few comments, Just wondering why? Also, glad that mine isn't the only one..........neutral is a pain to find.

MAke sure clutch is adjusted correctly, lube the heim joints at the end of shift linkage, also you may consider changing trans fluid to Spectro 75-140 Platnium 6, or Amsoil

Yes it is a bit of a challenge for a lot of us. I did a search a while back and found in addition to the previous post, blipping the throttle a bit at idle will slow you to sneak it into neutral.

Also as stated by the previous post trans oil made the best improvement in my shifting.

Yes they can be a pain. I have found that shifting to neutral while the bike is still rolling just before it stops works pretty good for me. I also can let out on the clutch just a little while shifting to neutral works. Clutch adjustment is the key though.

Mine was hard to get into, then proper clutch adjustment was made and now it is easy to find it. A little blip on the throttle helps sometimes.

yeah, clutch adjustment and also make sure the shift pawl is adjusted right too ...try to get it in N b4 you come to a complete stop when riding, blip the throttle if ur already stopped.

Well, if Im in first, and pull up with my foot, it jumps on into second. Then, when pushing down from 2nd to get to neutral, it drops on into first. Never ending battle it seems. lol Is clutch adjustment something that a person new to bikes could do. Have some mechanical ability.............or should a shop do it?

Well that my friend is strickly your call. I let a shop do mine, but it was already there for some other service.

Not hard to do and if it doesn't feel right you can try it again. Only takes about 15 minutes at the most. If you don't get it then let the shop do it. but make sure its somebody familiar with a Dog!

All I have to do is barely rev the engine a bit and it goes right into Neutral. It works going down the road or sitting still. R&B told me to put it in neutral while coming to a stop, which works nice, but feathering the throttle works even better! :2thumbs:

After reading some of the problems in the thread above, it leaves me some what hesitant Seems several people had issues doing it. Seemed pretty simple reading it in the beginning. Hey, Ill try anything before paying someone to do it.

Actually found my primary chain was too tight...

after putting on belt drive have no problems with finding neutral. I actually have the N lite out but still no problems finding.

mine was very hard to find and seemed to be getting worse it turned out to be a bent push-rod and the cable adjustment wont help that,so if you cant get it to dial in check that rod

Yeahhhh baby. I'm not the only one with issues. There should be a cable manufacturer ready to jump in and sell a modified one!
