The back is a tough one - you can't really just "suck it up" and move on, but procedures to rapair it have gotten 1000 times better in just the last few years...
Take it easy, listen to the docs, and dont hesitate to get several qualified medical opinions.

Thanks Cutter. Yeah, going to avoid the surgery option at all costs if possible. Have a buddy getting discs fused next week in his neck and they said there is no issues with that (same procedure as the NFL uses), but this is lower just at the hip. Heard some horror stories on those !

Nelson, take care and like someone above said get several opinions. I know some guys who have had lower back surgery and they are doing fine. Hope the best for you.

Man, I'm seriously sorry to hear that for you. Back pain is the biggest mystery and longest healing period of all. OK...so you have 3 full months to heal and make it to Bikes Blues and BBQ!
