Makes me want to start shopping for destructed bikes and cars. I guess if you never sell a vehicle it might work. Bent frames scare me.
I bought a bike with a Florida COD brand, intention was to pull the motor and trans to build a backup for my race bike. Once I got eyes on it, I found out it only had some rash on the paint and a broken mirror. Was able to register it here with a clean title and sold it for a tidy $4K profit.. Florida has a reputation for writing all vehicles off...

When i think of a salvage vehicle, I'm seeing a car going down the road like crab:)
Think of it this way, in Florida your Porsche woulda prolly been written off because of the broken headlight.. and its no crab, is it..

A lot of other states don't recognize Florida's branding, they will change the COD brand to rebuildable..

guess the point i was trying to make was you never truly know what the bike, vehicle or anything has been through unless a claim was put in. after hurricane Sandy a lot of previously totalled (flooded) cars were being retitled and sold on used car lots. the local news did a piece where they sent the previous owner in with a reporter undercover and purchased a loaded superduty that was at one time up to the dash in water. it was the buyers own truck so he knew what it been through. they had the dealer on hidden camera swearing up and down he didn't know blah blah blah. and he had the guy sign some BS document that released him of all liability on the vehicle. was actually pretty funny to watch. bottom line, pays to ask them straight up and put them on the spot if something is up with the history.

Well, in 2008 you couldn't because I bought a salvage bike at an auction, rebuilt it and couldn't get it titled. I wound up parting it out. They change these laws but you never hear of it. Thanks for the link.

I don't know. Last I talked to him he was looking for a motor and some other parts. Since I moved I don't get a chance to see him. I'll call him tomorrow and see how he's doing.

Talked to him today. Still needs a motor, tank, kickstand and some other parts. He has problems with his legs with not getting enough blood to them so he's been taking it easy. He said he's going in for stints this month so that will put him back a bit on the roller. He said to say hello to all.....
