need some help with grips

Well, I just changed the clutch cable out on the dog and, before I can even go and take a test ride, the throttle cable locked up.

So, I started taking the hand grip off and, I find that the cable is coming unraveled at the grip end and it's locking up the hand grip.

Well, I was pissed off and frusterated and, I accidently let the thing drop and, I broke a wire going into the hand grip side. does anybody know if this is just a plug and I can pull it out?

Here's a picture that I stole from one of the how-to threads.

Your going to need a new cable and probably solder the wire back together and use shrink wrap. When you insall the cable make sure you put plenty of slack in the opposing cable so it slides right on.

Damn. The cable broke right in the crease where the hole starts into the billet. ( the black wire in the picture. )

screw that wire its the brake light switch. or order a new wafer board which its connected to. mine broke also from being in there so often. just make sure you hit the rear also when braking and its a non issue.

also had a few cables break in the same spot. stripped Blitz's bike of one and it was frayed also. thought it was from the PSI but now think they just need more lube.

JWoolf, You can use mine if they are the same, should be, until you can get a replacement. It's still going to be quite some time until I need mine again! You live about 5 mins from me. I used to live @ Northstar (N. Garland) and renner. Now I'm on 78, still not too far. I know that area pretty well, we could meet somewhere nuetral or you can come out to the house and get what ya need to get ya by for now. Let me know! -Raymond-

Same thing happened to me.
I just tap the rear when braking.
No big deal.

Man, thanks everybody.

Hey, I have to check the attic. I think I have another throttle cable but, I'm not sure if it's the right length....

I think I'll guy those switches for 30.00 though.

Schwing!!!!!

jwoolf i replaced the pc board on my 04, the brake light wire probe is held in place with a .050 allen, i pushed the probe in to its seat and it was in to far, the brake light would flicker in good wind or rough road, so just for a heads up i would check the lever tension before putting it back together..Dave.
