First I did a search and read a lot of post on issues with the speedometer but could not find how to remove it from the bike so here is my issue and question.

I need to replace my stock speedo with another stock one that reads a higher mileage. :bang: Is the mileage locked into the speedometer or is it stored in another module? Can this be done from the head unit or do I need to remove the tank and unplug the connectors from the plugs that way? Its a long story but this is my task. Any help from those that have removed and replaced theirs would be most helpful to me. Thanks in advance.

You should find 2 screws under the speed bucket to remove it. There is a connector inside the bucket to disconnect the speedometer. The miles are stored on it as I understand it.

Don/Maddog can hook you up with a digital to get your miles right if you want to go that route.

PurpleDog, I took off the two screws to remove the bucket but I at first I did not take off the screw that held the bucket together until now. I just took it apart and removed it from the head unit. Thank you for your help....
