need new key switch?

I'm having problems with my 2004 Chopper cutting out. I do have the wires plus kit installed and had 400-500 miles with no issues until now. It seems to run fine at lower rpms but will pop pop and die on harder acceleration. I can let it sit for a few minutes and it will fire right up. Does anyone have the harley sportster ignition part number? Everything I've searched on this site so far,the key seems like the first place to start with fixing the issue.
Any other suggestions? I've read some people also ground to the battery with the wires plus kit. Mine is grounded to the frame.

Thanks

Don't fret. Go to your local tractor dealer and pick up a Ford 8n key switch...1948-1969. Perfect fit and function. Oh and about $11.

Thanks guys. I will buy a tractor switch then! I appreciate your response!

Can anyone tell me why some are suggesting grounding everything to the battery instead of the frame?

Just FYI. The original tractor switch posts were for 05 and later coil covers. It will still work but you may have to do a little modification to the hole in the cover. Someone with an 04 posted awhile back about this.

Harry, did one fit in yours ok?

It was a PERFECT fit. I should of put in a connector to make it easy to pull out but I just soldered the wires. Pretty much plug n play or should I say solder n play??!!!

I have the tractor switch now.It has 2 wires coming off of it. The WP switch has 3 wires(red, white and blue) going to it. What wires do I use?
