Like John said try that first...i have had some bikes that would come out doing channels locks....but i have had some that wouldnt.... so with that being said i have had to tape a leather or some rags around the gas cap , so not to hurt the paint, then take a hacksaw blade, just the blade itself without the hacksaw blade holder and cut it out....the plastic thread is easy to cut thru....once you cut half way thru the plastic thread insert you should be able to twist it off if not cut some more till you can or cut it completely off...then ofcourse you can remove the plastic thread out of the paint saver once the cutting is done...like i said i have had to do several this way and it very tedious....have to be very careful but it can be done...i have had to to do 4 that way....and also one of mine
what happens to the plastic thread piece on the cap is the stop on it has jumped over itself and then it cant lock itself together to come out....the plastic thread has a socket head allen screw that bolts thru the center to the chrome cap...it has slot on it that locks the two together....once it jumps the slot then it just spins off the center bolt and then like i was saying it cant come out
