BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN!!! VR tests, and stater tests good again, but battery was dead WTF? does anyone know what could possibly be going wrong?:bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

Get a new battery, once a battery dies sometimes they will not keep a charge. I would start with that because that is the cheapest solution.

Could be a seriously bad battery if everything else is good. Most of us don't use anything less then 300 cca. You might want to try that.

Are you keeping the battery on a tender when the bike is not in use?

The battery should be hooked up to the tender when the bike is not in use.

Sounds like a bad battery. Are you using a battery tender everyday?

I would also install a pair of "electronic compression releases". You wiring harness is already fitted for them and they will be a good relief on the battery.

Good luck,

Make sure your ground connection at the starter mount is good. The earlier models needed to be ridden above 2000 rpm for over 30 minutes just to recover the charge lost cranking the bike over. Bar hopping can really take a toll on a battery, new or not.

thanx guys, I think I may have figured it out. When I put on the new VR I didn't notice that the circuit breaker had tripped. I reset it and we will see how that works. My next step is a new battery!:2thumbs:

denver,

Sounds like you have found the culprit. Be surprised if it the battery if you just changed it. Circuit Breaker trip would make sense. Recommend that you put it on the Tender for a good day or two to make sure the battery is fully charged, check all connections and then see what happens.

Also bear in mind DogVets advise about needing to see 2000 RPM for 30 min to fully recover from starting.

Good luck and let us know how it works out.

dogvet,
What would a earlier model be? Are you talking about years earlier?
It is amazing how much strain the battery goes through on these bikes..
Good find on the circuit breaker denver0511. Hope all goes well now for ya.
