Need help identifying this part

Hi.

Can someone please help me identify what this part is… I discovered it while cleaning the bike. It’s a 2006 Bigdog Pitbull 117

Your missing a vaccum cap

Buy them in bulk. They dry rot kinda fast. Always good to have extras on the bike cause they do and will pop off. Ya may have to retune after replacing both of them?

Put small zip tie on caps . I put a single hose on the two on my bike.

Thank you for the info. Please pardon my ignorance but I'm not sure what you mean about "retune", can you expound? My bike started to misfire recently and I"m wondering if this may be the cause...

My first instinct when my bike or bikes malfunction is to take it to a mechanic... but several buddies had advised me to learn to work on them myself.... So, that's exactly what i've committed to do.... but thus far I feel like a Baby in a Ferrari (clueless), lol but I'm gonna research and learn everything I can about the subject. I really appreciate forums like this one!!!!! and users like yourself that are willing to help!

Just put the cap on it and run it. Should be fine, but you may need to adjust the idle mixture screw.

With that cap off air is added to the intake system. Which changes your air fuel ratio. If it was adjusted to this condition you would have re adjust (tune) your carb, could change jetting too. Bust most likely these came off and no adjustments were made, so replacing them could be all that's needed. And yes these off could cause some rough running due to a lean condition. With them off the idle speed would increase and may have been altered.
