I am thinking of painting my bike this winter before Dayton bike week. Any ideas on what i need to do or watch out for. I was thinking of taking it some where to have them strip it down to powdercoat the frame and heads then paint the bike. I also want to powdercoat the engine case is this worth the trouble? throw me some wild ideas. thanks

Just make sure you ask to see the painters' portfolio of work! Any painter worth their respirator would be glad to show you examples of their work. And remember - you get what you pay for! And don't be afraid to ship out your tins. Most of my work comes to me from out of state. Good Luck!

Just make sure you don't powder coat the gas tank. They have to heat it to do that process, and it will ruin the liner in the tank.

After what I went through I just shudder at the thought of painting – in spite all the warnings and advise I received. I went in expecting the worst and hoping for the best – I got &#@^$&$^#@*(
My money is on "airbrush-ed". We all have seen his work – truly talented, knowledgeable and come across with integrity. That's what I would look for in an artist. Just wish wish and wish I would have engaged him on my project.
RE – shipping tins out – THAT WORKS and works well, I was skeptical at first but dead wrong. Side Note – after 14 weeks of waiting my tins arrive and that’s what it looked like – yes I was PISSED – guess what, in spite of the outer box being damaged NOT a scratch/dent to the tins…..

I think you would need to strip the engine if you choose to powder coat it – at least the block and heads – if you have the inclination go for but I feel it would be too much…

good luck....

I just looked at Ed's website. WOW if i had talent like that i would be a rich man lol. Very nice work. I just dont know how much i wanna spend to get my scooter to look like the picture i have in my head. I sent ya a private message Ed so get in touch. It would be easy for me to run it down to KS and pick it up all freshy. My friends say dont split the block just to powdercoat it but i think it would give it a whole new level of cool. What do you guys think.
