Jake is my step-son he is 16 yrs old and has Aspergers a form of Autism. Jake has been talking to me ever since I repainted my Ultra Classic. Jake wants to learn how to take apart a V-Twin motor and reassemble one. If you have ever been around one of these special kids you know when they set there mind to something there is no stopping them. Is there anyone out there with a V-twin they want to get rid of for cheap. I did the rebuild on my Evo motor 3 yrs ago adding a sstage 1 & 2. Last fall I took my heads off and shipped them out and did the stage 3. I am more than capeable of showing Jake how to do this. I just need the Motor for him to work with. It will go to a great cause. Jake has already read several books on How to rebuild a Harley Motor to Books on Getting the most Horse Power out of a Harley motor. To reading Do it yourself motorcycle repair. Jake will never ride a bike. His reaction time will probably never allow him to drive a car. But he helps me fix the bush hog, the disk and he loves driving the tractor around the farm. Any hepl would be great guys!:2thumbs:

I'll check with the shop that I use to see if they have any left-overs. Does it actually have to work or can it be just a throw-away?

Hey life, my 17 year old has ADHD and aspergers. I can totally relate. My 7 year old is different as well. Quite a challenge but dam is it fun! I really mean that too, I wouldn't change a thing even if I could. Its a big world and variety is the spice of life. Working with them has given me a different view of life (and lots of anxiety!). Feel free to PM me if ya want to chat about the funny/annoying/crazy/cool/dangerous shit they sometimes come up with...lol. :D

I'll keep my eyes peeled on the local craigslist and shops I visit. Give yourself a pat on the back from me for helping foster his interests. I think having people early on that help them understand that they see things different from "normal" people can make a night and day difference.

I'll take a picture of the basketball goal and trampoline. He wanted to know what it was like to slam dunk a basketball and how it was done, so I explained how a dunk was done. When I got home the basketball goal was moved next to the trampoline. He was bouncing up and down then slamming the ball in. Quite inventive!

OMG hahahahaha!!! Thanks for posting that, great way to start my day. That is sooooo familiar! My guy wandered away from the healthy sports stuff and got into computers. He does some similar things with code and computer hardware. Its cool, but he's chubbed up a bit...like father like son. :D :D

Have a great day!!

Jake is privately 1 on 1 schooled 4 days a week. He is on his PS3 Call to Duty religiously 2 hrs aday and then he has mandatory outside time, not an option. It was interesting teaching him to operate a 0-turn lawn mower. He loves it now. The trick is not to explain it like driving a car, teach them with what they can relate to. The control sticks on the mover operate like game controls. That was all it took. He can go backwards wide open then slam one control stick farward, pivot the mower 180* then slam both control sticks farward and take off again. It's a move that would make any Hollywood stunt man proud! He loves it and I concentrate on weed eating and trimming. He has fun and the yard gets cut in 1/2 the time. 2 hrs instead of 4.
