alright i will start by saying i have read alot of threads on carbs jetting and tuning but still need help.i have super g carbs with 76/28 jets my exhaust are short drag pipes with washer/homemade baffles for backpressure.it idles good and if you give it hell going down the road it runs good, but if your just tooling along between 2500 and 3500 rpm it runs like crap it has a lot of hesitation. harley shop told me to get new pipes with baffles then try to get it tuned i have also pulled carbs off and cleaned real good. and new plugs
old plugs where fouled pretty bad

So expert here, but a couple of points hashed out here on the site. (Plugs fouled pretty bad - were you running extremely rich? i.e. tons of powder like carbon which come off just on touch?)

1) The RPM's indicate its around the transition point from int-to-main
2) The spread between int and main doesn't sound right - With a 76, I would try a 31 - this is the most common match up. (read on - depending on what you find out on # 3 you may want to drop the main, but then again based on your pipes I would say probably stick with the 76)
3) The number of turns out from the seat of the "AIR SCREW" usually determines moving up or down in int jet size (based on your symptoms I am almost sure this is where you will find your answer - you may need to move up)
4) Although it doesn't play a part in what you describe here at this time it is always good to check your settings on the pump screw as well.

There you have it - hopefully the 31 int will solve your problem. (Which air filter do you have?)

I wish I had more money.
Are the pipes you are talking about the same ones in the avatar you have? If that is the case those really aren't that short.
