Okay I have talked on this forum about how the 2004 chopper I just bought wont shift into first. Not the heim joints and i cant manually shift it into first. all other gears great, but can not get it into first. Well today I finnaly got to take it out for the first drive. all going well then all of a sudden a loud clank, stayed in gear and all but the loud clank, then all of a sudden it just sounds loose like something rattling in the primary drive, maybe transmission, but again all gears are working but first. Get home and park it and now I have a reddish/pink fluid dripping out. I figure it is tranny fluid but just pretty thick and not the color I am use to. Can someone help me out with what is going on. By the way the primary chain drive was switched to a belt drive. In a week I am suppose to take it up to big dog for them to look at it, but its a 55 mile drive, think maybe now I better find a trailer and trailer it up there. Man this think is killing me

if it is thick and pink, more than likely it is redline heavy shockproof transmission fluid.

good luck

Yep sounds like your tranny took a dump. Damn I hate to hear that. It might be the main shaft snapped. I had some tranny issues and had bigdogtech01 fix me right up.:2thumbs: But you are close to the source. Wish you luck and hope its not to bad.:(

Any ball park figures of what I am going to have to dish out??? Is this also the reason I could not get into first?

Phatchopper, didn't you haave some problems with your trans or primary not very long ago? Reason I'm asking is that now I'm having a problem. Driving along bout 70mph and rattlin sound starts to come from the primary side.
I have an 06 ridgeback. sounds like the chain is hitting the case. I stay under 50mph and hobble home. I checked the primary and it had about half a quart of fluid in it. Then I removed the primary case. The chain was kinda loose, I tightened the chain to specs. checked to see if everything else was tight and it seemed to be. I didn't go any deeper into it. Replaced fluid with trick shift, 32ozs.. Removed tranny fluid, bout 3 quarters of a quart came out. Replaced with new fluid. Took it for a test drive and I thought I had done it and then the same sound again. One think for sure, the trick shift had it shifting like a dream. I took it to the shop here in shreveport and old big dog dealership that went out of biz but still does custom work and repairs. I waiting on Jim to hear about this as we speak. what was happening with your bike?:hi:

It's probably f'd. Pulled an "Eskimo" and blew the seals from internal damage. Trailer that badboy or you may not get there....
