I bought this bike in Sept. With all the mods already on it. I'm missing a bolt of a special design I now realize, and cant order the part without a part #. I cant figure out who makes them. The bolt missing hold the foot brake control arm from sliding off sideways, and also the bushing inside from coming out. You can see the threaded barrel inside, I bought a chrome hex bolt thats the right thread and a washer, but soon realized if I bolted that on that the control arm would not be able to move. Also considered a second smaller washer to fit inside the control arm (smaller inside + larger washer outside + Bolt) and provide room enough for the arm to move and still give something to have the bolt bite on to. Any help would be greatly appreciated

What you may want to try is a bolt longer than you need. In other words install a bolt that will bottum out in the threaded shaft before it gets tight against the control arm and then add a washer and shims just to take away some of the space between the head of the bolt and the arm so its not too loose. Slide a small screw driver up in the shaft until it bottums out then mark it at the end of the shaft. Pull it out and measure it then purchase a bolt just a little longer allowing enough space for a washer. Make sure and install thread locker so it doesnt back out after you have the right clearances. Hope this helps, Dray

Oh also don't overtighten the bolt as it may pull the threads out of the shaft or brake the bolt off. Just apply threadlocker and snug it up.

Thanks guys, the only thing I wasn't clear on is shims?? What are these? I've used shims in construction, but not in mechanics. I half think its kind of similar to the double washer idea...... let me know and thanks again.

I thought shims were when you see a person and you can't tell whether it's a she or a him.........Must be a "shim"..........LOL! How bout it?

LOL, Could be but the "shims" i am referring to are just like you said about the washers. Just so there isnt too much space there between the bolt head and the shaft.

The shims are commonly used on HD components because HD allows for such wide measurement allowances.

The shims on the pegs is a bent or beveled washer that goes between the peg and the clevis... you can see the washer in this pic. Right package.. D shaped pieces
