I highly recommend only using a standard replacement headlight bulb 55/65w and no other higher wattage bulb. Why?

The wiring harness can barely handle the current to the 55/65w standard bulb as well as the plastic H4 bulb connector. Also, the EHC may have a fit with the extra current draw from a higher wattage bulb and shut things down.

The EHC monitors the bulb current from both bulb filiments and switches to high beam when low beam burns out.

Well the battery took care of it. Thanks for the help. Main problem was the headlight. Crazy

Just thinking.... Did you disconnect the battery before changing light bulb & socket? ... I am saying this because I think the EHC needed to be reset after that... and If I am not wrong disconnecting and connecting the battery does the reset, right guys? so, if this was not done... maybe the old battery was still good?

I wish I was aware of this before I bought the bike from Eric in Sept.! Of course He told me there had been no issues with the bike it was in top running condition. But, not having a big dog I was not aware of this forum. I just had the same problem and I just ordered a new battery. Makes me suspect a deeper issue. Of course he only put a cheap "Batteries plus" battery in it so maybe that's why it is bad again.

FWIW I have done the WirePlus and if both the high and low beams blow the bike will quit. It blows the inline fuse and will not restart until you replace the bulb. I was just a few miles from home when the bike just shut down. Traced it to the headlamp.
