I feel your pain man!!! Living here in Cali all my life, we've just watched the State deteriorate in the last decade or so......place is going to hell!!
Although it sounds like you got it handled this is strictly a AAA deal. When I bought my BD I had no issues registering or insuring (State Farm). Make sure they didn't classify your ride as "SC" or "Special Construction" - that may be the issue. I'm surpised how many times I get asked if it's a "SC" ride. Their surprised as hell when I tell them it's factory!!! May be time to look for a new carrier.
