All,

2004 Big Dog Boxer Complete Re-wire - I got rid of the proprietary electrical/handlebars.

I'm hoping one of you can walk me through the remaining bits of my wiring. If you're extremely knowledgeable, and wouldn't mind helping over the phone - message me - I'll call you.

The only remaining things I have to hook up are:
  1. Dyna dual fire Ignition Coil --> (1) Yellow, (1) Red Wire
  2. OEM Key Switch --> (1) Black, (1) Orange Wire
  3. OEM Cam Sensor --> (1) Black, (1) Green, (1) Red Wire
  4. Compression Release (2) Black, (2) Green Wires (one from each cylinder)

Hmm my big dog is super basic.

I have a starter key, and thats it. Head light always on bright, brake light is only on rear brake.

The only thing left that I believe you will need to replace is the OEM switch. The BDM keyswitch was not designed to have the full power of the bike run thru it -- power to everthing was controlled by the EHC. Without that you keyswitch will be the ON/OFF of power and will need to be more robust -- look for a tractor key switch that fits the same hole -- they are easily available.

Thats only 2 wires. VS the 5 that is being used in my Chopper. hmm will look for a part number next time.

A two wire will work
Turns on all power to bike
Needs a real starter button/switch (not low power switch as in BDM controls) preferably using a small relay.

So could just that Key, then have a hidden Momentary swith to activate starter/compression releases.

That key is a direct replacement for the original key. Same size hole. I still have the EHC. If you can find one the same diameter that is a three way with the last position spring return to center. You probably could use it. Use the last momentary term for both starter and compression release, but it won't start until you have the key back in the center position. That would close the compression release with the motor still spinning.
