The rubber part of the tire is essentially just there for traction and ride. The strength of tire is in the layers below.I've plugged mine but it wasn't in the thin part of the thread like yours! I would replace that one, the rubber thickness isn't there...
I would follow his advice. 1+I picked up a nail on the hwy going about 65mph and when the tire started going flat, it was seriously the most scared I've ever been on my K9, it was totally out of control. So, my advice is, my life is worth a whole lot more than the cost of a $300 tire. I put a new tire on the next day, of course the tire that picked up the nail was only about 3 weeks old. Ugh! But, as I said, my life is worth more.
this..If you are thinking of plugging or patching the tire, I would suggest a plug/patch. Those were the only tire repairs that we were allowed to do when I was a Cadillac Tech. You must break down the tire and install from the inside through the hole. Every GM dealership should have them in parts and in different sizes.
$635 for 2 tyres fitted, you think that is expensive.:loony:well Sadly the plug did not work.
The guy at my bike shop tried 3 different kinds of plug and it still had air leaking.
so I am now getting new front and rear (front was close to needing replaced)
But I don't know were you guys live cause its $420 installed for the rear tire I wish it was $300
But at the end of the day $635.00 for front&rear and piece of mind then I guess I am ok with that.
