Mystery Start

oK so i had a flat the other day on my rear tire (300) and had to limp into an Ironhorse shop that was close by. When i go to pick it up we found that it wouldn't start. The mysterious hi-compression/loose terminal/ecm/ign switch/dirty solonoid/dead battery moster had struck. Has anyone found the real answer to this? It hasn't done this for several months but I wasn't the one that tried starting it. Myself, I know that you must keep the start button depressed to cycle through,....they didn't and i'm stuck.

thanks, by cycle thru I mean when you depress the button, sometime it has that hesitation and if you don't keep it depressed to let it start, it will do this, click, flashers on, click. I have been told everything under the sun on what "could" be causing it but still no fix. Like i said it hasn't been a problem until a stranger tried it. When you take your dog to the shop and if they can't replicate the problem, it must not be a problem.
I will look into the hard wire option
Thanks again

If the flashers came on when attempting to start it then that is an indication the battery wasn't strong enough. How old is it? Ensure it's fully charged and capable of putting out 12.8 volts then check all the connections and make sure they are tight.

Mine did the same! It won't keep tryin to crank if the battery is low. Then you have to cut off the key and start the process over. I ended up with a HD softail Battery. My BD battery didn't last 18 months and all terminals were tight and it was on a battery tender when it wasn't being ridden :hi:

My Drag Specialties battery didn't last 4 months and I kept it on a tender. It showed fully charged until I checked the voltage while pressing the start button, then only about 6 or 7 volts. I was thinking EHC too, but just a shitty battery. What's worse is that I got a free replacement on that battery, so now I"m running with the same thing that I know sucked before. It's like taking sand to the beach. It just doesn't make sense!
WTF. Couldn't turn down the free replacement.

My 06 K-9 started this after the voltage regulator replacement. I am wondering if something is going on there. I just replaced the battery with a new one 2 weeks ago and last night it was almost flat dead. It looks to be a voltage leak somewhere. I would charge the old battery and as long as I rode at least every other day it was in good shape, now the new battery is doing the same thing.
