Can anyone tell me what the part circled in yellow is? It seems to have some sort of oil in it but I can't figure out what it's for or what the fluid is. There is another one of these on the front side of the motor but is only on the right side. After riding, the fluid will drip onto my pipes causing a little bit of smoke to come off of them. Does my S&S have tear ducts?

It's an '03 Bulldog with a 107cu S&S.

Looks like it is a breather for the head. Stock air cleaners have a hose from each head plumbed into it to re-burn any vapor .

So I took both of those breathers off (review pictures in starting post) to clean them out yesterday and there was all kinds of junk in there. I need to replace the filtersof those breathers but I can't find this same style anywhere. Anyone seen these breathers before and know who makes them? If not, any suggestions on what to use as a filter? The original filters almost resemble a brillo pad.

Most of these breathers are fitted with a paper element or one formed out of an oil resistant foam. I would recommend cleaning at oil change intervals or more often as required.
After I had changed the air filter assembly from the stock one to a 90 degree Speed's Performance Plus my venting through the carburetor was lost. I then vented mine through a length of 3/8" oil resistant hose down below my K-9 like all vehicles were before the EPA saw fit to choke our beloved power producing mills. I hate to be "dirty" dut it works great and I'm not diluting my intake charge with any unwanted crankcase blowby.

I ran a nice stainless braided hose to the rear back part of the frame and mounted the puke can there...no oil on the tire or rim, worked fine.

I just roll up a napkin and stick it in my breathers. That helps catch the oil. Change the napkin every 500 miles or so. Might try a tampon one day in there. :D
