Panama City for sure, who wants to go somewhere that you are not welcome. I have made some rides up th PCB and there is some nice riding in the area and very biker friendly. Nice coastline to ride going east and west....Also for anyone who camps there is a nice campground on the strip as well across the street from the beach.

I might do Myrtle and stay south. I live in SC so its pretty darn easy to get there. I will certianly not go for the entire week like usual. I will go for two days at most. I am thinking of hitting Panama City though. I would like to go some place that actually doesn't try to run us off.

LDO, Sounds good, you can't go wrong with to many places all pretty good. They done a good job cleaning it up. It would be nice to get everyone from BDB and make a run to Destin, it's about 45 min from panama. They have some realy good restaurants.

Effective 2009 Myrtle Beach, SC will no longer host motorcycle rallies

BAD NEWS on this one guys. The Mayor just posted this up on the city site:
Dear Visitors,

Myrtle Beach is no longer the location for two long-running motorcycle events. After many years, our residents grew weary of three weeks of noise and traffic congestion each May, and they asked City Council to end the events. As a result, the Harley-Davidson Dealers Association Spring Rally and the Atlantic Beach Memorial Day Bikefest will not be held in Myrtle Beach.

This was a difficult decision. Myrtle Beach welcomes visitors year-round, but the giant motorcycle rallies simply grew too large. Our staff, residents and businesses strained to keep up with these huge single-focus events. It may surprise you, but our economy is much healthier with a fully diversified visitor base, instead of a concentration on one or two extremely large events.

Please know that Myrtle Beach is not anti-biker or anti-motorcycle. We want folks to come on the vehicle of their choice and enjoy all of the things Myrtle Beach has to offer. We are ending the motorcycle-related rallies because they grew too big and lasted too long. The huge rallies even kept visitors away from Myrtle Beach, and that's not good.

For everyone's safety and welfare, City Council has added a few new rules and regulations. We believe these new laws will make Myrtle Beach a safer and more friendly destination. For example, with your safety in mind, we now require that all motorcycle riders and passengers wear a helmet and eye protection. We also have a 1:00 to 6:00 a.m. curfew for everyone under 18. These and other rule changes are explained on this web site.

Thank you for understanding. As you know, Myrtle Beach is a great place to visit, and we welcome you at any time. I look forward to your next visit and am confident that you will have a great time in Myrtle Beach!

Sincerely,

John Rhodes
Mayor

This is a little misleading being as the large portion of Myrtle Beach bike week does not even take place inside the "city limits" I know i will not ride inside the city limits or even spend a penny there. But the fact is the city itself doesn't even really host that much anyway. Majority of the bikers that go usually spend time down south or up north. I know first hand that the only police that will be enforcing these new laws are the actual 'City Police" and they only patrol inside the city limits which is not as big as many people are thinking. I am just waiting for a club of color wearing bikers to go riding through the city without helmets and loud pipes and see how the police react to that HAHAHA

Eric,
When you went to PCB last year how was the overnight parking? Did you have to leave the scoot in the parking garage or do they have some type of designated parking? Makes me a little nervous to think about leaving the bike in a parking garage overnight unless there is some kickass security...

parking @ edge water has its own gated parking right in front of your condo,no one can get in without a pass it fassens to bike bars, if riped off thay wont let you in, i was worried to hadn't had my dog a month when i went, after seeing the place no problem
