Well I guess someone has to break this bubble and comment about the down tube stickers and reflectors:eek::oldhardlaugh:
Hellfire....if Allah delivers to me a 70 degree day in late December, I'm going to use my day wisely. I can peel stickers and remove reflectors anytime. Gotta keep your priorities straight. Besides, I kinda like them.
Didn't you notice the stickers on the down tube of my 2008 K9? Been there for 65,000 +miles......hahaha

Rick that bike is a beauty. There were two factors that made me decide to do the tanks myself. First I had a custom bike builder do some work on my rear fender. He told me he could reline my tanks. All fe did was clean them with some sort of nasty cleaner then dump some Cream in them and slosh it around. The therory was that the Cream would hold the old liner in place. That was before the first paint job. Needless to say it did not work and I was stupid for thinking it would. Second was the fact that my bike has two tanks so the cost was double to have it done professionally. When you add to that the cost of shipping from Ohio and back plus insurance plus the chance the paint may have been damaged any way I decided to do it myself. I may have done it differently if I only had one tank to do.

Again good luck!

image.jpeg Here is a pic of the tank from my 59 Willys pickup. there was a small hole rusted in the top of the tank where you can see the patch. It is fiberglass mat material applied with the tank liner material. I lined the tank and used the excess material to paint the outside of the tank. The material is hard as nails. No leaks and I am very happy with the results. It is POR Gold seal same as I used in my bike tanks.

Here's my tanks off my 05 Mastiff after Fuel Tank Services in Ft. Lauderdale did them. Mine was expensive because I have to tanks so it was 1k for lining both tanks, and it is lifetime guaranteed. It should be around a 30 day turn time. I tried cleaning mine out with screws, didn't work. Now, it did take me 8 months to get my tanks back because I opted to have a scratch and several chips repaired even though I was told it would only be another 30 days. I did go round and round for months with George about this. Anyway, your tank should be around $500 and you should have it back in 30 days. I have some Caswell Dragon seal you can have if you want. I'm never going to use it. My tanks were pretty rusted under all that coating that was peeling off everywhere also. Anyway, good luck with whatever you decide.

image.jpeg The follow up is good news for me. Roger and I tore into it today and pulled the fuel pump out of he tank. We had looked around in there with a bore camera and not found much, but I wanted to see what it looked like. In there with the fuel pump out.
It turned out that the tank liner is pretty good--maybe will make some problems down the the road, but as of now, I see no reason to have it relined.
This pic is of the fuel filter. For the fuelies, it is in the tank and this one obviously deteriorated, so it badly needs replaced. I'll rinse some debris out of the tank, find a replacement S&S filter and It seems It'll be good to go.
We are planning for San Antonio in late Feb this year.

Probably su ked the trash in the pump. There's a recent thread on the pump and filters.

From the other thread:

Fuel Pump: WALBRO #F20000107
Regulator: WALBRO #135-22
In-tank Sock Filter: S&S #19-0458

Also someone else mentioned:
Tanks Inc has the filter sock for ~$5.

Hey Rick I really like that color. I like its a dark red.

Don't mind me just admiring your new toy.

Anyone know what the reason was behind the 111 instead of going with the 117 on these baggers?

Thanks Eric. I chatted with Matt this morning and he looked at a pic and said the color was called Bright Candy Red.
The reviews I read on the 111/117 issue were focused on the notion that a square engine (4 1/8 bore X 4 1/8 stroke) makes better torque and has less vibration. Which makes sense for a Bagger, but I cannot imagine deciding to pull a trailer with this bike. They probably let the engineers decide the issue...haha.
I can tell you there is a difference in torque between this Bagger and my K9. And the engine is rubber mounted, so it's smooth.

So you notice the 111 has more torque? That's interesting considering you spiced up your 117 and that 111 is still bone stock. Guessing they put those 569 competition cams in there too? Since Big Dog I would assume was putting those together in house along with the 117

Well the K9 is sure faster, but it's hopped up a bit. I can feel a smoothness and better torque availability at like 2000 rpm on up. The Bagger is smooth as glass at those engine speeds and the K9 is more of a race horse. It doesn't get happy under 2500 rpm. S&S claims the 111 shorter piston stroke (4 1/8") means smoother operation, lower rpm and longer engine life with lots of available torque. It is rubber mounted, too.
But my Bulldog only has 80 or 90 miles on it, so I'll need to log in some miles, get it broken in correctly, and it will teach me about the performance characteristics.
I think that cam you mention is the one Matt put in Roger's new 124...don't quote me but I think somewhere I saw an article and the 111 cam is like a 585. And that might be the S&S crate engine, which is not necessarily EPA production engine that BDM put in the Baggers. I'll have to ask Matt sometime.

paint 02.jpg I got this from Donna for my 07 K9. My painter used house of color BC11 AND KK11 (mixed11:1 with clear) then regular clear coats.
