Well I finally got to take the dog for a real ride. Just got back from Maryland Ocean city. I pulled in over 500 miles
in less than two days on the dog. Approx 10 hours. Mastiif handles fine and was a great trip. I saw close to 110 miles an hour at times. Amazing power and handling. I really feel
like I am part of the Mastiff now. Great compliments and all from all. We left NYC at 5 am got to Ocean city by 11am, only stopped for fuel.
No problems with the dog at all. The only thing I saw
that was happening was the speedo sweep led lights does not take place. The speed indicator sweeps to 20 mph and falls back down to zero. But the Led's do not. They work fine with the revving and all. Should I be concerned with that?
Also should I change the oil? Thanks all

unless you got caught up in traffic and the motor overheated (heat tends to break the oil down), go with the normal service pattern. congrats on the ride, glad you enjoyed it.

That's normal -- the speedo does a calibration sweep. There is nothing similar for the tach lights so you'll only see them active when there is a signal from the ignition (the bike is running).

The LED's don't sweep with the speedometer needle when you start it up. And you needle should sweep to 60 then back to zero. What year Mastiff do you have? It it's a newer model you should see the needle sweeping twice. Once when you turn the key on and again when it starts up.

Glad you had fun on the ride.:cheers:

Yes it was.. left 5am NYC manhattan got there ocean city Maryland at 10:30 and left a day or two later at 4pm and got in NYC at 11pm (took 1.5 hr ferry this time)
The speed that 6th felt ready to go at was 60 mph and when I hit the 110 it was really the wind velocity/noise level that made it feel the speed was there.
But the Mastiff was rock solid. I am riding what I paid for. I did not feel like I was on
a bike that was shaking or ready to fall to pieces. Also when it came to braking it
stopped pretty damn fast when I had to, considering I weigh 200lbs and the bike is over 700 lbs!

Soon, you will be knocking off 700 miles a day with no discomfort unless you are in the twisties for a couple hundred miles. Wish I could have rode with you all. Got pics?

Actually no discomfort except the wind noise and engine hum in my head
For a second time ride in 22 years this being my first time ever beyond 50 miles
it was great. I wish I had pics.. did not take camera as my backpack was fully loaded
with stuff. The only things I have as evidence is my memories and my motel bill
at the thunderbird Beach motel at 32nd street. Which by the way they really
put my mind at ease by giving me room 120 which was next toi where my bike
was parked right in front. The guy then even suggested to place them under the stairs
which kept them out of site and mind from all. He even placed a handicapped sign to
prevent anyone from parking us inside and blocking us!
