My Ending Winter Project

Well, back in December I traveled to PA to pick up a not so nice Chopper. It's been sitting for quite some time. So now it's pretty much done. Still a few pieces need replacing. But it's finally spring so I'm going to ride it for awhile before investing any more in it. I lucked out on, I feel alot of it. Replaced oil, drained tank and carb, fixed brakes, stuff like that. Then polished the heck out of it.

Well when I picked it up, and on the way home, I stopped at a self serve car wash. Power washed as much as I could to get off as much dirt as I could. Then it was all elbow grease. I really have no idea how many hours I put into cleaning it. But I know from December to February I was out in the garage on and off. Time does go faster when your jamming to the tunes and drinking while your scrubbing. If you go back to the General section you will find the original post with more pictures of when I first brought it home. After fresh gas and new plugs, it fired right up. And now that I took it around the neighborhood everything works as it should. I still need to have it inspected so I can have the title put in my name. So another winter project has come and gone.

Looks great man, wish I could keep mine that clean but this damn work schedule and only having 7 days off a month has had me neglect my bikes all winter. Carb on mastiff isn't flowing any fuel, think the float is stuck shut, or something, and just found front brake caliber leaking on the bagger. And even tho should be fairly easy fixes, cant find time to do them. But on your new bike, I can see that you definitely know how to make a dead looking dog look alive again.

Wait till you retire. Then you will have lots of time to do what you like to do. That's where I'm at.

When I retire, what is this retirement you speak of? lol. I think last time I looked it up based off my SSN or date of birth my retirement age was 72. But even if I were to retire like my father at 65, I will be the guy that never stops. My dad is 73 and retired and he jokes about going back to work to get some rest. Between his 5 rental properties, his place on the lake, and people always asking him to do things for them he literally never stops. So I'm not sure I want to retire after seeing what he goes thru, I'm thinking where ever I am working at that age will have to force retire my ass. lol

Well, I do have to agree with you some what. After a year of retirement I took on a weekend job working at an Am Vets drop off facility. I to need to keep moving. It's healthy to keep moving for sure. But I will tell you, for me it was a new found freedom. Not having to get ready for work anymore is awesome. I am now on my schedule not there's.

I'm with you on the schedule thing. I retired this January and don't miss the "schedule" at all.

Yea I hear you on the cash thing. That is one reason I took on a part time job. I work 2 days a week and the little money they pay me is enough for the basics. Gas, booze, dining out. And this way I don't have to touch my pension. I enjoy staying busy and meeting people. This job works out great for me.
