Glad to see there are still alot of the originals out there, but I guess more what I was meaning is what people are doing to prolong the life of them.. Like Srodden, shrink wrapping all the conections. Good idea, I havent done that yet but I will. And Svahna I think you are right mine must have got the upgrade, because it has the new style with the sq usb plug, any other ideas out there. Like I said before I remember a while back somebody talking about putting foam under theirs to eliminate vibration. seemed to be on the right track so I did that. And if U find yourself broke down in Oregon get ahold of me, ive got an enclosed trailer, every tool known to man, two bike lifts, and an Excavation business so if we cant fix it we can Bury it. (does not include ex wives). :)

IMHO the issue here is the EHC was placed in an environment in which it shouldn't have been. High vibration, moisture and heat take a toll on the unit. I just think sometimes it wasn't meant to be. It's a very finicky system and doesn't like heavy, low or unknown loads. The unit has built in type circuit breakers and it will trip when unhappy, this is why we say to disconnect the battery to let the EHC reset. The worst thing for the EHC is a low battery, jump starting the scoot with the good vehicle running, adding accessories incorrectly and water intrusion. I'm on my original (28,000 miles) and have water proofed it by adding die-electric grease. When I took mine apart the pins were severely corroded, so if you haven't done it I would suggest you do it...:2thumbs:

I may be the exception but I have nothing to do with and have not heard from my ex wife so it certainly does not apply to me. Besides, I bought a trailer specific to bring the dog home for repair if needed and I have towing. Oh and I am nowhere near Oregon and have never been there. But, who cares what I just said.

My EHC works like I expect it with occasional hiccups which are not a problem for me.

I'm still on the OEM item and although i think my problems may be the EHC...........then again it may not.

I do have a fancy wiz bang WP sitting on the bench ready to do the install, but the winter riding weather is now here so many miles are being done as i tempt fate by riding in the rain, heat, and high vibration.

I also have a trailer and a wife to collect me from the side of the road if required.

I am waiting for the day when i can't get home on my own, so I do not trust it at all.

There is a poll here that shows most Dogs have their EHCs. I still have mine and it works fine. But, I do have a WP backup on the shelf.

Oops, I couldn't find the poll but found this
